Sometimes swallowing your pride is nessesary for survival. I got this picture from puppy-training-at-home.com. Obviously dogs can't talk but if they could the small one would definatly be the one to swallow his pride, if not the big dog would most likely eat him. I think it represents the statement because if you replace the small dog with a small person and replace the big dog with a big person it would have the same outcome. Hopefully though the big man would just beat up the small man instead of eating him.
Swallowing your pride is in the poem Rasin in the Sun, in the scene where Benetha says their is not a god. If she would have just swallowed her pride and quit while she was ahead, she wouldn't have got slapped in the face by Mama. Also Momma wouldn't have made her say "In my mother's house their is still god!" She wasn't feel very proud after having to say that.

Again, it's not a poem.
Good explanation and choice of picture, but where is your third one? You were supposed to do three.
